Who we are
The Web Cartel is an independent UK web design business and the controller of personal information collected through this website. Contact us at hello@thewebcartel.co.uk about this notice or your information.
What we collect
When you make an enquiry, we collect the name, email address, service selection and message you choose to provide. Our hosting provider may also process basic technical information, such as IP address, browser details and request logs, to securely deliver the website.
Why we use it
We use enquiry information to respond, discuss potential work, prepare proposals and maintain relevant business correspondence. Our lawful bases are taking steps at your request before entering a contract and our legitimate interest in responding to genuine business enquiries and operating our business.
You do not have to provide this information, but without it we may be unable to respond to your enquiry.
Who handles it
We use Cloudflare to host and protect the website, Formspree to process form submissions, and our email provider to receive correspondence. These providers process information on our behalf under their own security and data-protection commitments. Some processing may take place outside the UK using appropriate legal safeguards.
How long we keep it
We normally retain unsuccessful or general enquiries for up to 12 months. If an enquiry becomes a client relationship, relevant correspondence may be retained for longer where needed to deliver the work, keep business records or meet legal obligations. We delete information when it is no longer reasonably required.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may ask us to access, correct, erase or restrict your information, or object to how we use it. You have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests. Email us to make a request.
You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
Cookies and updates
We do not currently use advertising, behavioural tracking or optional analytics cookies. Essential technical functions may be used to securely provide the site. If our services or data use change, we will update this notice before using information in a materially different way.
